What is Published Primary vs Unpublished Primary DNS?
| In this arrangement, the Public DNS is configured as secondary DNS service - transferring its zone data from the primary server of your choice.
However, the InterNIC is not informed of the existence of the primary - only the Public DNS servers are published. The advantage is that the Public DNS provides the name service while the domain owner can choose a primary that they directly control thus allowing them to administer/edit the zone data directly on a private (and possibly intermittently disconnected or otherwise unreliable) machine.
